LIB DEM COUNCILLORS BACK TRI-SERVICE CENTRE

At Thursday’s meeting of the Forest of Dean District Council, Lib Dem councillors called for Government to abandon plans to close the Gloucestershire Tri-Service control centre.

Cllr Heather Dalziel, Ruspidge & Littledean, Lib Dem says “The Tri-Service centre cost £6.3million to build and only opened last year.  The joint emergency control centre enables the fire, police and ambulance services to work more closely together and has already led to significant improvements in operational efficiency. The centre uses the latest technology and professional staff have high standards of local knowledge which is invaluable in an emergency”.

“The Government intends to replace this with a regional control centre which could be as far away as Exeter or Plymouth. This could endanger the lives of people of Gloucestershire.”

The motion received support from all parties on Forest of Dean District council.  A similar motion was passed with all-party support at Gloucestershire County Council on March 24th.
